Lucknow Residency 2

As you enter the residency on your right is the memorial to Indian "Native" Sepoys who died defending the Residency against the "rebels" during the 1857 Revolt. The Residency sustained a siege of over 5 months and according to some accounts the conditions were appalling.

This plaque commemorates some "native" sepoys

Bullet, Mortar and Artillery shell marks can be seen all over

A memorial later erected by the Britishers for the "Native" soldiers
