Kanyakumari is in the subconscious background of all Indians. It has a unique set of monuments: the temple from time immemorial; the Vivekananda Rock a symbol of national reawakening; the Thiruvalluvar rock; the Gandhi Mandap; the atmospheric sunrise and sunsets. All of us can relate to it even though a large majority never actually go there. That is changing with ever increasing number of tourists thronging this little temple town overwhelming its scant infrastructure. Pictured here is the Kanyakumari Light House against the sky away from the clutter that Kanyakumari is increasingly becoming.
